{"id":1331,"date":"2013-10-20T14:00:53","date_gmt":"2013-10-20T14:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/burnhead-church.com\/wp1\/?p=1331"},"modified":"2015-08-23T00:15:19","modified_gmt":"2015-08-22T23:15:19","slug":"the-grady-memorial-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/burnheadchurch.com\/?p=1331","title":{"rendered":"The Grady Memorial Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Our\u00a0former and much-respected\u00a0minister, the late Reverend Jim Grady has been honoured by a newly-opened memorial garden. <\/b><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1333\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 480px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1051   \" src=\"http:\/\/burnhead-church.com\/wp1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/480x270-GardenOpening01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Councillor Jim McCabe, Stewart Grady, Jill Radigan and Reverend Les Brunger at The Grady Memorial Garden Opening<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Grady Memorial Garden has been created from what had been waste ground to the rear of the Extension Hall and is intended to be used by the whole community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was opened following our Dedication and Harvest Service on 20th October 2013 by Rev. Grady&#8217;s son Stewart &#8211; who is\u00a0our Session Clerk &#8211;\u00a0and his daughter Jill Radigan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pathways, shrubs and herbaceous borders and trees are all included in the garden, which it\u2019s hoped many local people and members of the congregation will use as a space for quiet reflection and prayer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stewart, clearly moved by the spirited turnout from local people at the opening ceremony, said the garden represented the best possible use of what had been a vacant site.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is a place where hopefully people will be able to find some quiet amid these pleasant surroundings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt will also no doubt prove ideal for all manner of community events in the warmer months, for example involving children and families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stewart\u00a0also thanked the Rev. Les Brunger, \u201cfor his kind words, and help with the dedication and official opening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Stewart and Jill\u00a0gave particular thanks to the people whose labour-of-love hard work made it possible &#8211; the local community payback team.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the ceremony it was noted that the effort clearly put into the garden showed the payback workers involved were fully committed to the project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Their hard work is reckoned to have helped the team behind the project bring to fruition a valuable new amenity for the\u00a0community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our\u00a0former and much-respected\u00a0minister, the late Reverend Jim Grady has been honoured by a newly-opened memorial garden.
